Christ was Proclaimed Among the Nations
The Breakdown: The church confesses that Christ was “proclaimed among the nations,” because Jesus specifically told the church to do just that—to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19). Right before His ascension, He told the disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Christ was first proclaimed locally, and then globally, which resulted in Him being “proclaimed among the nations.” As the Savior of the world, the person and work of Christ is proclaimed universally.
Activate: The church today still confesses the same truth, and is still responsible to the same commission—to proclaim Christ. This work is not reserved for pastors and evangelists, but for every member of the church. Every Christian is to “proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9). To proclaim Christ is to make Him known—to exalt and to explain His life, death, resurrection, and to share His love for humanity.
A Thought: May we proclaim just as Paul did, who wrote, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all His energy that He powerfully works within me” (Col. 1:28-29).
